Founded in 2020, Olusa Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization dedicated to providing relief efforts and healthcare services to underserved communities in Nigeria. Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure access to affordable, high-quality preventive healthcare for those who need it most.
Olusa Foundation is named in honor of the Olusas who came before us—Olawuyi, Awosola, Olugbemiija, and Arinkolu—our founder Olusola Olusa’s father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. For generations, generosity and service have been at the heart of the Olusa family, and this foundation carries that legacy forward.
“I remember my parents gathering rice, grains, and medicines into bags for distribution, traveling from village to village to help those in need. The joy and gratitude on people’s faces when they received food and medicine is something I cannot easily describe. Despite my father’s education at one of the nation’s top universities, he found true fulfillment working in small towns and villages, serving the less privileged and dedicating his life to service. This spirit of giving has been passed down through generations, and my family’s commitment to helping others continues to inspire me today.” — Olusola Olusa
Olusa Foundation is powered by a dedicated team of volunteers and a small but committed staff. Our volunteers come from diverse backgrounds but share a common passion for uplifting communities and making a lasting impact. They dedicate countless hours to training, fundraising, and responding to crises—continuing the selfless work the Olusa family has carried out for over 200 years.
One of our primary healthcare goals is to combat high blood pressure and diabetes—two of the leading causes of death in Nigeria. Olusola’s mother, Margaret Adunola Olusa, suffered from untreated diabetes, a condition that ultimately contributed to her passing. With early detection and proper medical care, her condition could have been managed. Inspired by this experience, Olusa Foundation prioritizes preventive healthcare, medical screenings, and health education to change the narrative around healthcare in Nigeria.
Another critical goal is ensuring that no one in our communities goes hungry. To address food insecurity, we established a food bank that provides essential supplies to families in need. By tackling hunger, we empower individuals and families to focus on their well-being without the burden of food scarcity.
To bring our vision to life, we built a 100-bed, low-cost hospital and community center on land originally owned by the Olusa family. This facility provides essential healthcare services, along with a network of smaller community hubs that serve as food pantries for those in need—continuing the legacy of generosity that Sola’s parents once upheld.
“Government services in rural Nigeria are nearly nonexistent, leaving people to fend for themselves in times of crisis. Our goal is to harness the power of volunteers to bridge these gaps and bring relief where it’s needed most.” — Olusola Olusa
We have also established a food bank, ensuring that no one in our communities goes hungry. We believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right, not a privilege, and we are committed to providing meals for those who need them most.
At Olusa Foundation, we believe that compassion and action can transform lives. Join us in continuing this legacy of service and making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless individuals.
